Child Protection and Safeguarding Statement
Empowerium Community Hub
Empowerium is committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children, young people, and vulnerable individuals who engage with our services.
As the owner of Empowerium, I bring professional experience and qualifications that support a high standard of care and safeguarding:
I am a fully qualified teacher and registered member of the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS).
I hold a valid Paediatric First Aid qualification.
I am a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
These qualifications reflect my commitment to maintaining a safe, professional, and nurturing environment for children and families who attend Empowerium.
🔹 Our Commitment
Empowerium prioritises the safety, rights, and dignity of every child.
We aim to provide a secure and welcoming space where children, young people and adults can learn, explore, and enjoy activities free from harm.
All activities are delivered with appropriate planning and safety considerations based on the age and needs of participants.
Children are supported to enjoy learning and play in a secure, respectful environment.
🔹 Parental Responsibility
Parents and guardians are fully responsible for the supervision of their children at all times unless the child is participating in a pre-booked, age-appropriate supervised session run by Empowerium.
For general sessions (e.g. stay and play, craft sessions), a parent/carer must remain present, engaged and responsible at all times.
For older children’s classes (e.g. STEM or baking for age 8+), supervision is provided only during the session, after formal drop-off and registration by an authorised adult.
🔹 Safe Practice
All Empowerium sessions are conducted in line with safeguarding best practices and risk assessments where appropriate.
Activities are delivered with a focus on emotional wellbeing, physical safety, and positive behaviour.
Children are never left alone with unvetted adults or unsupervised.
🔹 First Aid and Emergency Procedures
A qualified paediatric first aider is present at all times during sessions.
Any accidents or incidents will be recorded and communicated to parents/carers promptly.
🔹 Concerns or Disclosures
If any concerns are raised regarding a child’s welfare during a session, Empowerium will:
Act in accordance with the principles of child protection,
Take appropriate steps to ensure the immediate safety of those involved,
Report concerns to the appropriate authorities if necessary.
🔹 Reporting Concerns
If a child protection concern arises during any session, Empowerium will:
Act in line with the National Guidance for Child Protection in Scotland,
Ensure the immediate safety of those involved,
Escalate concerns appropriately (including contacting local child protection services if required).
